SEASONAL RETAIL CHECKLIST
Halloween impulse display checklist
A seasonal display needs a clear location, a small opening quantity and a simple way to measure the result. Use this checklist to test a tactile Halloween product without losing track of what actually drove the sale.
1. Pick one shopper moment
Decide where the display should interrupt the shopper: checkout, Halloween endcap, gift section or sensory-toy shelf. Use one location for the first test. A focused placement gives the store a cleaner read than scattering a few units around the sales floor.
2. Keep the product ready to understand
Shoppers should be able to see the character, approximate size and packaging at a glance. A clear-front individual box supports gift presentation, while a coordinated counter display keeps the assortment together. If the product can be demonstrated safely, place a short product video near the online listing or social post.
3. Use a small, complete opening display
A complete six-piece PDQ is easier to merchandise and count than loose pieces. The EMBERWAVE Ghost Boy + Girl Squishy test order contains six individually boxed 13 cm pieces across two designs. Confirm the exact boy/girl ratio with the quote.
4. Give staff one sentence
Keep the explanation concrete: “This is a jumbo ghost squishy available in boy and girl designs.” Staff do not need an exaggerated sales claim. They need a short description that matches the product the shopper can see.
5. Measure at day three and day seven
- Record the starting quantity and display date.
- Count remaining units after three days.
- Count again after seven days.
- Note which design sold first and whether customers asked to touch the product.
- Record any common question about price, age, packaging or material.
6. Set the reorder decision before the test
Decide in advance what result would justify a reorder. That may be a number of units sold, a sell-through percentage or a date by which the display should move. A rule set before the test is more useful than relying on memory after the season becomes busy.
Before payment, confirm current stock, wholesale price, assortment ratio, delivery ZIP, door-delivery cost and the product documentation required for your market.
